Brands that are owning the lipstick game!

Wearing a good lipstick can make me feel a hell of a lot more confident, fact. By 'good' please do not assume I mean expense wise, I mean one that creates the wanted look. Considering practically every beauty company have a lipstick range (which usually consists of several different formulas/types within that lipstick collection) so I thought I'd share my favoured brands for different lip products.

Liquid Lipstick-Gerard Cosmetics

I have to be honest, as of recently I have backed away from matte lipsticks... except for these. They apply as a glossy liquid formula then mattifies without causing my lips to dry up which has been my issue with other matte lipsticks. I find these to give off an opaque colour from just one coat, colour doesn't bleed and lasts well (even after a stressful day consisting of lots of coffee drinking haha). I love the few shades I own and the other shades are definitely tempting me. In the UK they are either available from Beauty Bay or, if you can handle the delivery wait, you can order directly from Gerard cosmetics and use code GC40 for 40% off at the moment!

Lipstick- Mac

This will probably be an obvious choice to many but I had to pick it as they genuinely are my fail safe go to option. They offer a variety of finishes/ranges including satin, cremesheen, matte, amplified, frosty etc. I love their cremesheen if I need to quickly slap on a dash of lippy on. If I want to make more of a dramatic lipstick statement then I definitely lean towards the amplified collection, they are amazing. Mac provide such a wide selection of shades you're sure to find a shade you love which will be a long lasting, beautifully textured lipstick.

Lipgloss- L'oreal

To be precise its the Color Riche L'Extraordinaire Gloss from L'oreal that I adore. Firstly we have to talk about the packaging, how beautiful right?! Not only do I love the packaging but with just one wash of the applicator you are left with glossy, healthy looking lips. The colour pay off is wonderful for a gloss and the formula is also a total dream considering it isn't overly sticky to the point of clumping like other glosses can be. I feel like I didn't even have to question which I would pick for my gloss in this blog as these are always my go to when I want a a shiny plump looking lip.

So there you go, they're my favourites. There's definitely room for my favourites to potentially change at some point soon though as there's definitely some more I'd like to try out (Charlotte Tilbury and Mac retro matte liquid lipsticks I'm specifically looking at you two!) Feel free to leave me any recommendations of lipsticks I should try! Follow if you want. FH x

Drugstore must haves!

I love a good raid of Boots and Superdrug, searching for the greatest bargain beauty saviour. Searching for a cheaper alternative to more luxuriously priced products, without having to lower the quality level.

Here's a few of my favourite finds:

  Seventeen Falsifeye HD mascara

I've tried a lot of mascaras including many high end brands but the Seventeen HD mascara is by far my favourite. It applies easy, lenghtens lashes whilst avoiding clumping and smudging issues. If you prefer to mainly volumise your lashes then this probably isn't your most ideal mascara but it's definitely worth a try. Everyone I've recommended it to has adored it and I'm going to continue to use it daily. Love, love, love.

L'oreal Brow Artist Plumper

I find that most brow gels tend to hold my brows in place but don't do much else but, as the name suggests, this really does plump up your brows. It's the product I've found makes my brows look their fullest. In comparison to other brow gels this also holds my brows a lot better. Once I apply it I know that not a single hair in my eyebrows is going to move out of place.

Nivea Men Sensitive Post Shave Balm

Not for the use you'd presume but as a primer. This gem was found by one of my favourite beauty gurus known on youtube as Nikki tutorials. Due to the fact my face tends to just eat up foundation I regularly end up with a patchy base by the end of the day... That was until this beauty came along. The first primer I've found that keeps my face in place (apologising for cringe rhyming, sorry guys) all day. This is a necessity product on long busy days.

Collection Lasting Perfection concealer

For my fellow pale friends I am here for you, us ghostly coloured girls got to stick together. I struggle to find a concealer paler than my skin tone in order to be able to highlight my skin when contouring but I've found one! This concealer in the lightest shade- fair is perfect for the job. It may be a thick consistency but it is blendable, good coverage and has a low price tag.

So there we are, a few of my favourite drugstore products. If you end up trying any of these out or want to share your favourite cheaper products, then leave a comment below! Follow if you want. FH x

2016 trend for all budgets

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

You've probably already heard others say it but 2016 is meant to be the year of the glow.

Yes, most of us already got on the highlight hype towards the end of 2015 but the year mainly consisted online searching 'how to contour like Kim K'. This year we are moving on a little. Don't get me wrong, my contour kits are going no where, they're simply just taking a back seat so an array of highlighters can shine through (cringe word play I know, I'm sorry).

MUA- Undress your skin

Not everyone wants to, or can afford to, lay out a lot of money every time a new trend arises. Here I am to offer an option that you may appreciate as it retails at just £3 from Superdrug. I'm firstly going to recommend that you to apply this with a dabbing motion using your finger rather than a sweeping motion using a brush as this can lead to a very uneven and messy appearing highlight. Out of the three products in this post I would say this can be made to look the most natural due to a warming pink tone to it, as long as you stick to the dabbing motion it can give you either a subtle shimmer or can be built to create a more eye catching highlight.

The Balm- Mary-Lou manizer

I'm pretty sure this choice comes as no surprise to you, considering it is the most raved about of the moment! If anyone ever asks for an intense highlight then this is the product I automatically go to. If I'm being completely honest, this is my absolute favourite highlighter as I seems to make me feel my most goddess/angel like whilst wearing it. If you are looking for a very pigmented, full on highlight then this is definitely worth £17.50 out of your bank account!

Mac- Mineralize skinfinish in Soft & gentle

First things first I'm making this clear, if you don't like highlighters which are very glittery then this one is not for you. I would say this differs quite a bit from the previous due to it being more of a peachy-pink tone. A light brush of this across your cheeks and you then have subtle highlight which will leave your face looking radiant and healthy. It may come with a more expensive price tag of £24 but I would say it's so worth it!

So there you go, make the glow work for you! I hope you enjoy my first ever post, I'd love to hear your opinions on it. Follow if you want. FH x
